The Quarter-Life Question

You thought this chapter might feel more settled. Instead, friends seem to have plans while you are questioning work, relationships, or where to live. I offer room to sort through what you want without treating uncertainty as a personal failure.

What It Feels Like

When Everyone Else Seems Ahead

At 18 to 25, ordinary questions can start sounding like deadlines. A friend's new job or apartment may leave you wondering whether you have missed something important. The comparison can linger long after you close your phone.

After college, loneliness can catch you off guard. Without familiar routines and nearby friends, even a full calendar may not give you the connection you miss. Making plans now requires effort that campus life once supplied.

Underneath

What Is Underneath the Pressure

  1. Questions about direction often carry other questions: Whose approval matters? What counts as enough? Would choosing differently disappoint someone you love? I want to know what each possible choice means to you.

  2. I listen for the expectations you have absorbed and the feelings that get pushed aside. We can explore how earlier relationships shape what achievement, independence, and belonging mean now. A parent's definition of stability may differ from yours.

Our Work

Hearing More Than One Wish

My approach draws on IFS, narrative, and psychodynamic therapy. In everyday terms, that means noticing competing feelings, questioning harsh stories about yourself, and understanding patterns with a history.

One part of you may want a change while another wants certainty first. I help you hear both, rather than forcing an answer or adding another demand. We can distinguish being unsure from having no preferences at all.

In Session

Decisions and the Days Between Them

Individual sessions are 45 minutes. You might bring a difficult conversation, a job decision, or the familiar sinking feeling that arrives after scrolling through other people's updates.

We can meet by video while you are in California, Arizona, or Missouri, or in person in Manhattan Beach. Sessions can include reflection, practical coping ideas, and attention to what feels difficult between appointments. You do not need to make a major decision every week.

First Steps

Start With What Feels Unsettled

You do not need a clear goal before contacting me. Feeling stuck, lonely, or tired of comparing yourself is enough to begin a conversation about support. We can start with the question you keep returning to.

A free consultation gives us a chance to discuss what brings you here and whether working together feels like a fit. Visit the Rates page for private pay information; superbills are available.

Questions

Before We Begin

Do I need a major problem?
No. I work with clients whose lives look fine from the outside but feel uncertain or disconnected.
Can therapy help with career questions?
I can help explore the fear, identity, and expectations around decisions. Therapy is not job placement or a career assessment.
What if I have no plan?
We can start with what this week feels like. You do not have to choose your future before talking.
