Parenting as Partners

Raising kids without losing each other

For new parents and couples with children who want to stay a team.

Who it is for

Partners first, parents too

Kids change everything, including how two adults treat each other. Sleep disappears. Roles shift. Conversations become logistics.

This is couples work for anyone parenting together, from the first sleepless months to the teenage years.

Many parents reach out feeling guilty for wanting time as a couple. That time is part of caring for the family, not a break from it. Your kids benefit when you two feel like a team.

What it can feel like

  • Talking only about pickups and schedules
  • One partner carrying the invisible to do list
  • Different rules for bedtime and discipline
  • Missing each other while living in the same house

What we work on

Where couples get stuck

Parenting styles

Strict and relaxed, structured and spontaneous, and how to meet in the middle.

Mental load

Who remembers the doctor's appointment, and who notices it's unequal.

Losing each other

Intimacy and friendship fading under exhaustion.

Family of origin

Your own parents showing up in how you raise your kids.

How Naomi works

Two people, one team

Naomi uses Emotionally Focused Therapy to help partners see the cycle that kicks in when one of you feels unsupported and the other feels criticized.

Psychodynamic curiosity helps too. Often a disagreement about screen time is really about how each of you was raised.

What can shift

Back on the same side

Some couples find it easier to divide the load fairly, or to agree on a few shared rules. Others reconnect as partners again. Families vary, and we don't promise a particular outcome.

What sessions look like

Couples format, kid friendly timing

Sixty minute video sessions, usually weekly, held without the children present. Nap time and after bedtime both work, as long as you have a private room.

Fees in brief

$250 couples with Naomi, $175 with an associate, for 60 minutes

Questions

About parenting as partners

Is this family therapy?
No. This is couples work focused on the two of you as parents.
We just had a baby. Is it too soon?
Not at all. The early months are a common time to reach out.
Can we bring the baby to sessions?
A sleeping baby is fine. For deeper conversations, child free time helps.
