Communication and Recurring Conflict
Same argument, different day
For couples, and individuals, who are tired of conversations that spiral into the same place.
Who it is for
“We keep having the same fight.”
It might be about chores, phones, or in-laws. The topic changes; the ending doesn't. Many couples who reach out still care about each other a great deal.
Recurring conflict isn't only a couples issue, either. Some individuals notice the same blowups with a parent, a sibling, or a coworker, and want to understand their part in it.
- A small comment about the dishes becomes a two hour standoff.
- One of you wants to talk it out now, and the other needs to leave the room.
- You avoid certain topics entirely, just to keep the peace.
- Under the anger, you mostly feel alone.
What we work on
What we slow down
- 01
The cycle
The loop you both get pulled into, step by step.
- 02
Pursue and withdraw
One partner reaches harder while the other pulls back further.
- 03
Hurt under anger
The fear or sadness that comes out sideways as criticism.
- 04
Hard conversations
Learning to bring up difficult things without bracing for war.
How Naomi works
Emotionally Focused Therapy, in plain words
Naomi uses EFT to help partners see that the cycle is the problem, not each other. Both of you get heard, and no one is labeled the difficult one.
Individuals are welcome too. Even with one person in the room, we can map your side of the pattern and what you feel when it starts.
What can shift
Catching it sooner
Some couples begin to name the cycle out loud before it takes over. Others learn to ask for reassurance more directly. Every relationship is different, and we can't promise how yours will respond.
What sessions look like
Couples and solo formats
Couples sessions run 60 minutes by video or in person; individual sessions run 45. Both usually happen weekly, with occasional one on one check ins for couples.
